GETTING AROUND

We strongly recommend exploring all of Maui. There are buses but they aren’t recommended .  It’s a good idea to have a rental car so you can travel around the island. Motorcycles are fun too, but scooters are only good for short distances. Adventurous types: you’ll want a car that you’d feel comfortable driving off the road with.

We always rent from Kihei Rent a Car and All Save Rental Car. They offer older model cars 2010-2015 for much less than the name brand ones do. They also offer pick up and drop off to the airport. We prefer to support local and the older cars deter thieves. The new rental cars have been known to have break ins when you leave a car packed at a park or attraction.

You can also rent camper vans if that’s more your style. There are two many companies we know of North Shore Vans and Maui Camper Rental. The word on the street about the VW Campers is they breakdown often though I have had friends use them just fine.
